Approach To Customization

BerkelyCare is unique in that our exclusive focus is on customized, private-label travel protection plans. Our business model is built on the premise that, just as one travel product cannot meet the needs of every traveler, one insurance product cannot meet the goals of our diverse client base. Consequently, we design and administer each program individually, beginning with client-specific toll-free help lines and dedicated account representatives and claims staff who understand the commonalities as well as differences between each client’s goals, objectives, operations, travel products, insurance benefits, pricing models, etc.

 

It is important to note that, because we do not market a generic, Berkely-branded travel insurance product, our focus remains exclusively on serving our clients – you and your customers -- through tailored plans sponsored by individual travel partners. Ultimately, this results in increased participation, and maximized earnings, for our clients.


In addition, and equally important, no sponsored program that we administer subsidizes the underwriting results of any other custom program nor of a competing, generic insurance product.

In evaluating the customization of each plan, we take a market-based approach to product design and development, which entails: a thorough review of the financial equation; ensuring consistency with your brand positioning; and maintaining alignment with your organizational goals and objectives. With the application of predictive modeling techniques, made possible with our comprehensive database (capturing current and historical pricing, participation and claims data), we are able to maximize program value for our clients. Working with our depth of data, we:
 

  • Propose appropriate benefits and limits for new programs based on the potential impact to participation and earnings;
  • Conduct competitive pricing reviews and identify break-even points, ensuring that our clients continue to maximize the number of travelers that purchase the travel protection plan without crossing the pricing barrier (which could generate diminishing returns);
  • Evaluate whether contemplated pricing and/or benefit changes are structured to maximize your profits; and,
  • Conduct periodic underwriting analyses to maintain the program’s financial stability and revenue potential.
